Situation
•Degradation products of an antistatic agent adversely impacting performance
•Degradation products of a phenolic antioxidant Blend

•High temperature process to produce an antistatic blend in a feedable form resulted in degradation products due to presence of other basic additives in the blend
•Preparations of melt blends of phenolic antioxidants with metallic acid scavengers resulted in degradation products of the AO
•Blends combining certain AOs or UV stabilizer produced eutectic mixtures clumping during warehouse storage as a result of depressed melting points

Solution Provided
•Blends produced at ambient temperatures eliminated formation of rearrangement products of certain antistatic agents
•Similarly, blends containing combinations of phenolic AO and acid scavengers did not produce any degradation by-products when processed at ambient temperatures
•Separating incompatible components during production of feedable forms and then re-blending them resulted in stable products with good shelf life
